Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the LingDojo mobile application (the "App") operated by us ("LingDojo", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Accounts

• You must provide a valid email address or sign in with Apple to create an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorized access to your account.
• You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and removes your account and learning data from our servers.

2. The App

• LingDojo teaches Japanese, German, and Spanish using a structured vocabulary curriculum, a spaced-repetition review system, and offline-first content delivery.
• Course content is downloaded to your device the first time you open a course. After that, lessons and reviews work without an internet connection.
• We may add, change, or remove courses, features, or languages at any time. Where the change is material, we will try to give you reasonable notice.

3. Subscriptions (LingDojo Hero)

• LingDojo Hero is an optional paid subscription that unlocks unlimited hearts and full access to every course. The free tier includes the same curriculum with a hearts-based session limit and a 30-minute refill.
• Subscriptions are billed by the platform (Apple App Store or Google Play) on the period you choose (monthly or annually), and renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage and cancel your subscription in your platform account settings at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not offer refunds for partial periods except where required by law.
• If we offer a free trial, you will be charged the full subscription price at the end of the trial unless you cancel first. Trial availability is determined by the platform.
• If you change your mind after a purchase, see the platform's refund policy - for the App Store, request a refund through reportaproblem.apple.com.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
• use the App to violate any applicable law or the rights of others;
• abuse the service (for example, by automated scraping or denial-of-service attempts).

5. Intellectual property

• The App, the curriculum, the brand, and the design are owned by LingDojo. You may use them only as permitted by these Terms.
• Third-party content (audio, dictionary data) is used under licence or as permitted by the source. We attribute third-party data where required.

6. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the curriculum will meet your specific learning goals.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LingDojo will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months before the claim.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the change. For material changes, we will notify you in the App where required by law. Continued use of the App after the change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which LingDojo is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you the right to bring an action in your country of residence.
